More Precious Than A Penny

@ 12:02 PM (35 months, 5 days ago)

Today I saw a penny on the ground.  It was covered in some kind of caked-on dirt.  It was hardly recognizable, but I knew it was a penny nevertheless.

I picked it up and  put it with my change, just in case I ever needed a penny.

A lot of us are like that penny.  We are full of dirt from sin, from addictions, from past relationships, fear, from our childhood, our negative beliefs and what we have been taught.

For the most part, under all that caked-on dirt, people don't recognize us as Christians, nevertheless, children of the Most High God.

Just as I saw past the dirt of that penny and understood its worth, God sees through the dirt of our past, the dirt of the bondages that bind us, and knows our worth.

We are worth something to God.  Even underneath all that dirt, we are still precious to our Heavenly Father.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:5 AMP).

While we were still in our mother's womb, God saw us.  He approved of us.  We are of worth to Him.

Not because we have done anything to deserve it but because He loves us.
