Obtain A Sound, Well-Disciplined Mind
My mind has always been my downfall. I remember times long ago (well, not that long ago! I am only thirty-four!). Words that I said. Lies I told. Things that I did. I repented of them. Jesus had covered them under His blood.
Jesus may have forgotten, but I haven’t. It is those things that the devil likes to bring up to me. If I listen long enough without countering his lies with the Word, I start to dwell on those events.
satan is the accuser of the brethren (Revelations 12:10). He wants to bring up as much of your past as he can. He wants you to believe that you haven’t changed, that you are still the same person you were before God saved you.
As long as you believe it, you will be held back from achieving all that God has called you to do.
I am not the same person and either are you. God, from the time we are saved until the present moment, is all the while at work in us. He is changing us from glory to glory. We are changing. Even though it might not seem like it, we are changing.
“I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.” - Isaiah 44:22.
When you repent, God blots out your sins of His book. The Bible says He remembers them no more (Hebrews 10:17).
If you’ve repented of the sin, and God forgets it, then it cannot be Him accusing you of the sin. It has to be the devil.
The only thing you can do when this happens is to take heed of James 4:7, which tells us to “submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Make sure you surrender yourself to God. You must yield to His Holy Spirit and His ways. Then stand firm and resist the devil. We do this by countering every false accusation he makes against us with the Word. Not once but every time he makes an accusation. Then and only then will be flee.
You must be consistent. If you are, you will find that you will break down satan’s strongholds in your mind. You will be on your way to a sound, well-disciplined mind (2 Timothy 2:7 AMP).
