Let Him Take Care Of You
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.- Psalm 23:1
I always thought of this as a nice little verse that starts Psalm 23. A verse that seems to be standard for those who are sick or dying. That is until I began to understand it.
What does a shepherd do? He takes care of the sheep. He watches them. He leads them.
Just as a shepherd cares for his sheep, God, the Good Shepherd, cares for us. He feeds us with His Word, with His revelation, with His wisdom.
He provides us with shelter. In fact according to Psalm 91, God is our shelter. We have to abide in Him because that is the Only place where we are guaranteed safety and where He will meet our needs.
If one of us leaves the flock, He goes after us. He actively pursues the one until it returns to the flock. He never stops looking for His lost sheep.
If we let Him, He will guide us and direct us to our destination. He will lead us through the trouble, and He will teach us.
Most of us try to take care of the Shepherd--telling Him what to do, begging Him to do things our way, doing all kinds of good works in His Name that He didn’t ask us to.
If you watch a shepherd with his sheep, you never see a sheep trying to take care of the shepherd. You see them, though, just like us, thinking they know it all and wandering from the flock.
We have to relinquish control of our lives to God. We must leave all our problems, all our situations, all our circumstances, in His capable hands. We were never designed to care for God but Him for us.
We need to be like little sheep. Dependent on our Shepherd for provision, for instruction, to lead us in the way we should go. We must put down our lives and exchange our will for His. He died for us. Isn’t this the least we can do for Him?

Have you received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour? Do you believe Jesus died to pay the price for your sin? That He was raised from the dead? Then just pray aloud, "Lord Jesus, I repent of all my sins. Come into my heart and be my Lord and Saviour." If you believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth, you are Born-again. Let us know if you prayed this prayer.
