“Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.” - Matthew 20:33 (NIV)
These two blind men wanted their physical sight. But we should be like these blind men in regards to our spiritual sight. We must ask God to open our eyes and our hearts to the things of the Spirit. Although these things mean nothing to the logical thinkers of this world, they mean something to God. The scales need to fall off our eyes concerning the things of God.

Teach me your way, O LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. - Psalm 27:11 (NIV).
This is such a sweet prayer because here we see a humble person. He is saying that he doesn’t know it all. He is saying that he needs God to teach him. He needs God to lead him in a straight path no matter what comes against him.
We have to adapt this attitude in our every day lives. We don’t know everything. We can’t understand everything in our past, our present or our future. Most of the time, we cannot see further than our own circumstances. This is why we need God to teach us and guide us along the path He has for our lives.

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; - 1 Corinthians 1:27
God uses the foolish things to confound the wise. I don’t know about you, but I am a foolish thing. My family has counted me out for a long time. I am not successful in their terms of success. Most of my friends have left, thinking that what I am doing is crazy. I know Someone that doesn’t think I am foolish or crazy. That’s God because I’m His daughter. Anything I do in an attempt to obey Him is music to His ears. And that makes it all worthwhile.

As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. - Romans 9:13 (KJV).
I find it interesting that God used the name Jacob here. God could have said, “Israel have I loved.” After all, God had renamed Jacob. He gave him the name Israel.
I believe He chose to call him Jacob here because God wanted to emphasize the fact that He loved Jacob when he was a schemer, a manipulator. God loved Jacob when Jacob was still in sin, still trying to live his own way.
God loved us too when we were still drowning in our sea of lies, excessive drinking, smoking, our unwillingness to change. He loved us when we thought we didn’t need Him.
And He still loves us when we make mistakes today.

My pastor taught on meditating on the Word of God (Joshua 1:8). He recalled that on several occasions, he muttered a Scripture to himself while he took a walk. As he did, God gave him revelation about that particular Scripture.
While I washed my hair a couple of weeks ago, I muttered III John 2 to myself. God stopped me and started speaking to my spirit about prosperity. Total life prosperity.
He told me that it breaks His heart to see His people living in poverty and sickness and thinking that He wants them to be that way.
Like any father, He hates to see His children suffer. Yet many of His children think that they are pleasing Him by staying sick, by staying poor, by accepting the problems that come in their lives.
He cries when we cry, when we suffer, when we are in pain, especially when we have been taught that He wants us to stay that way.
God didn’t create sickness or poverty, so He doesn’t have any of those things to give us. He has healing for us (Isaiah 53:4-5, I Peter 2:24, Romans 8:11). He has prosperity for us (III John 2, Deuteronomy 8:18, Psalm 35:27). He has only good gifts for us (James 1:17).
But as long as we are holding onto the sickness, the poverty, our negative thinking about these subjects, we won’t receive what God has for us.
We cannot receive when our fists are closed. Let’s open our hands and receive all that God has in store for us.

The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. - Exodus 14:14-15 (KJV).
In order for God to fight for you, you have to hold your peace.
He told me recently that as long as I worried about things, I kept my hands on those things I wanted Him to handle. Instead every time I am anxious, I am training myself to say, “I will not let my heart be troubled, neither will I let it be afraid.”
When I stay in peace, God fights for me. And He will do the same for you…if you remain in peace.

But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.” - John 3:21 (NIV).
When we accept the Truth of Jesus Christ and what He has done for us, we come into the Light of God. Then we see plainly what He has done. He didn’t have to go to the Cross for us. He didn’t have to take our sins–past, present and future. He didn’t have to take stripes for our healing. He didn’t have to wear a crown of thorns on His head for our peace. He didn’t have to, but He did. He did all this for us. He did it because He loves us.

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13 (NIV).
Jesus laid down His life for us. He was nailed to a cross. He was beaten and bruised. He took stripes for us.
Yet most people say He didn’t overcome the world because they see evidence of the curse. They see the curse all around them, yet Christ has redeemed them from it.
According to Galatians 3:13, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. He has redeemed us from sickness and disease. He has redeemed us from spiritual death. He has redeemed us from poverty.
The problem doesn’t lie with what Jesus did for us, giving us salvation, healing, abundance, peace. The problem lies with us. We don’t believe that we have what God says we have.
So, when problems come our way, we don’t remember what Christ did for us, what God promised us. We don’t believe that God will come through for us no matter what we see around us.
Instead we live under the curse. We accept the sickness, the poverty, the pain. We don’t take the promises and fight for what is ours.
Why? Because although we are redeemed from the curse, it is still on the inside of us. It is in our thinking. It is in our mouths. As long as we think we are cursed, we will live under the curse. Even though Christ has paid the price for us to have His blessings.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
If you have accepted Christ, you are a new creation. That doesn’t mean that you have changed your hair color or eye color. It doesn’t mean you are tall if you were short. It doesn’t necessarily mean that your attitude or your thinking have changed. Your spirit has changed, though. Your spirit is now in tune with God’s Spirit. It is in constant communication with God whether you realize it or not. And over time, if you pay attention, you will become sensitive to what God is saying to you.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever” - Psalm 23:6.
The word follow in this Scripture is the Hebrew transliterated word, Radaph, which means to be behind, follow after, pursue, persecute, run after.
In other words, goodness and mercy shall follow after you, pursue you, run after you. Imagine having two people named goodness and mercy running behind you day after day, night after night. Wherever you go, they go.
God’s goodness and mercy are always available to you. They are chasing you down, wanting to overtake you. Why don’t you stop running and just let them?

Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. - 1 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV).
Christ became our Passover lamb. In the Exodus 12, before the last plague hit the Egyptians, God told the Israelites to kill a lamb and put its blood on the door posts of their houses. That night the Lord passed over the houses that had the blood on their door posts. He spared their firstborn.
Now if the blood of a lamb worked that well, imagine how well the shed blood of our Passover lamb, Christ, works when we apply it to our door posts, our minds, our bodies, our lives.

“If, while we seek to be justified in Christ, it becomes evident that we ourselves are sinners, does that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! - Galatians 2:17 (NIV).
When we speak of not being under the law but being under grace, people think that means that we permit people to sin. We are not under the law.
Christ fulfilled the requirements of the law because we could not.
The problem is, though, that people are so focused on sin and being conscious of their sins that they sin all the more. Wherever the mind goes, whatever it is focused on, the body moves in that direction.
If we change our focus to what Jesus did for us, the stripes He took on His back, how He took our sins–past, present and future, then we find ourselves doing good things. Why? Because our mind is focused on how Jesus made us righteous through His shed blood.
We live under grace, but as we focus on Jesus and what He did for us, we find ourselves doing what is right.

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ - Galatians 1:6-7 (NIV).
We have to be careful not to be like the people of Galatia, who deserted the One who called us by the grace of Christ. Every thing that sounds right is not necessarily right.
When we are presented with a gospel that sounds right but does not feature Christ as the center of it, we must reject it. The true Gospel centers around what Jesus did for us. It doesn’t hinge on what we do for ourselves.
In order to be free of confusion, we need to compare every thing we read, hear and see with the Word of God. When we do that, we will never be led astray.

How many of us are using our talents? How many of us are using them for the Kingdom of God? This is one of the things we will be asked about on Judgment Day. What are we going to say?
If we are fortunate, some of us use are talents at work. Others of us work at jobs just to pay the bills. Jobs that we don’t enjoy. When we do use our talents, it is as a hobby. It is something that we putter around with on the weekends.
However God created us with those exact talents, those exact abilities, because He has something extraordinary for us to do with our lives.
Most people have been taught that God has a plan for their lives, but they assume that it isn’t anything that spectacular.
We are afraid that He will call us to Africa or some faraway land like that. We are afraid that He will call us to something we don’t like to do.
God designed us for our assignment. He put the desire to accomplish it in our hearts. He can take whatever we ask, think or dream and do far above and beyond it with our lives.
What if we think that we aren’t called? Or that we will just let someone else accomplish great things for the Lord? And we’ll just wait to go to Heaven?
We were not put on this Earth to just take up space until Jesus comes back or until we die.
No, after we give our lives to Christ, God expects us to let Him work with us to fulfill our purpose in life. He expects us to use our talents, our skills, our abilities, to help win others to Christ.
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.” (Luke 19:13).
The word occupy here is the Greek transliterated word, pragmateuomai (prag-mat-yoo’-om-ahee), which means to be occupied in anything, to carry on a business, to carry on the business of a banker or a trader.
In our case, it means to carry on business in Jesus’ stead. Because Jesus is seated at the right-hand of the Father, it is necessary for us to carry on His work as His children.
If we do not carry on His work by fulfilling our assignment on this Earth, then we have not been faithful to what God called us to from the foundation of the Earth. And there are countless people who are going to Hell because we did not do what we were put on Earth to do.
We must ask God to lead us and guide us every day so that we will be at the right place at the right time to fulfill our destinies.

“But if it were I, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. - Job 5:8-9 (NIV).
When we lay our cause before God, He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. God is still in the miracle-working business. Do you need healing? A financial breakthrough? Your loved ones to be saved? God can do a miracle for you in all these areas…and so much more. Believe that God wants to do miracles in every area of your life. He wants to do things for you, just as He did for Abraham, for Paul, for David. Once you know that you know that you know God wants to fulfill His promises for you, then you can receive your miracle.

I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? - Galatians 3:2-3 (NIV).
How did you receive the Spirit? Did you receive Him by observe the law? Did you receive Him by what you have heard? Don’t be foolish like the Galatians. When we begin in the Spirit, we must continue receive through the Spirit. We can’t try to earn the things of God through human effort because without God’s power behind us, we can do nothing. We cannot earn anything from God of our own efforts. In fact, the more we try to do things through human effort, the less we receive. We cannot give to others what we have not received.

…and the Lord give thee understanding in all things… - 2 Timothy 2:7.
The Lord will give us understanding in all things, if we expect Him to. This is one of our rights as children of the Most High God. We have the Holy Spirit in us, and He knows all things. We have access to His wisdom 24/7. Only most of us don’t ask Him how to handle our problems, our adversities. The Holy Spirit’s wisdom is not just for Heaven. We don’t need it there. It is to give us all things that pertain to life and godliness. And wisdom definitely pertains to life and godliness.
